gmlogo.jpgBank Holiday Monday was the day, Earls court was the venue, Janet and I were the spectators (among others..), and George Michael was the performer..
I had mixed feelings on what I was expecting.. I remembered George from back in the day, when Wham! were the in thing, and later in life I remember having his album, Listen without prejudice in my pile of all time favourites. But I also start to dislike celebrities that use their position to try and politically sway people.

I haven’t been to a proper concert in my life, well, I did go see jean michel jarre many moons ago but that’s just a big laser show with stoned geeks and I guess it cant really be used to draw a parallel. There was some discussion as to if I should drive, Janet suggesting that it would be far easier to get the numb-brain train. We ended up with a compromise which meant me parking my beloved at Newbury Park station.. you know that UNMANNED car park right in the heart of Essex Bronx, ala Ilford..

After work Wednesday 23rd we headed straight for Haymarket to Her Majesty’s Theatre to watch my first ever show. Phantom of the Opera. Had pretty good seats too apparently, front row in the Royal circle.I must admit that as i settled into my seat i was muttering to myself that i should make my excuses and go to the Sports Cafe next door to watch Liverpool and AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.

But i thought against it (apart from the fact that i couldn’t live with myself seeing that sad puppy dog look from Janet that i hadn’t even given it a go…!) So, i thought i would get into the swing of things by taking a few pictures.

Taking pictures in a theatre is the work of Satan, according to the usher who opened a whole can of whoop-ass on me, as she sneaked up in-between me and Janet and just exploded. I still managed to get a few pics in which are later in the post.

So, what did i think?

Off i went on Sunday 28th to the Emirates Stadium to watch Arsenal struggle against Bolton in the FA Cup Fourth Round. I also took some rather dodgy pictures with my new Samsung digital camera. Please excuse the dodgy pictures, i was struggling to work out what all those knobs and dials do.

Speaking of Knobs, i need to bring to everyones attention one particular young man at the game.

He spent the entire 2nd half searching for bluetooth devices and trying to send them some dodgy asian porn picture. I know this becuase i was one he tried to send it to. If i was his dad (who was sitting next to him) i would have smashed him right up the wall. It annoys me no end to think someone paid for his ticket, which are by no means cheap and then he just sit there, dicking around with his phone.

anyway… the rest of the pictures of the actual game :)

ICE SKATING

December 27th, 4pm, In the grounds of The Tower of London. It was time for repeated bruising. It was time for holding on. Dying swan was ready, willing, and enabled.I hand over my old, smelly, (… and comfortable !) trainers to the non-english speaking guy behind the counter, in exchange for a rock hard pair of storm-trooper boots with a blade. I strap my feet in, and try to stand up.

Wobble, wobble and more wobblin’ - how the hell was i gonna manage to stand up straight, let alone be majestic on the ice.. Within a few feet of walking i think ive sussed it.. then disaster strikes, i have to step OVER a bench..

Rest easy, i made it, much to my disbelief! and then i get on the ice. Janet immediately skates off with the grace of a winter olympics superstar, leaving me slipping, sliding and gripping the side with vicelike strengh.

Arsenal 6 - 2 Blackburn Rovers

Those that know me know that i hate football, always have. Cant stand how it takes over peoples lives, cant understand how anyone can devote so much time to a game that just that, a GAME.

Having said that, i think its a little unfair to judge something that i have no experience of. Although ive never had a wasp trapped in my forskin, and i could tell you here and now, even without experiencing it, i WOULD NOT LIKE IT!.

So, Janet and I open our ‘Official fake arsenal supporters pack’ comprising of an Arsenal Shirt, Scarf and season tickets, leave her house (which is 10mins walk from the emirates stadium) and off we go..
